BritLit Project - A Success of Partnership

BritLit was started in 2002 by APPI and the British Council in Portugal . It is their first joint project. The original idea was simple enough: to produce teaching resources (called 'kits') for teachers in years 10 and 11 to help them use the extensive reading options more effectively. The result has been a much bigger project than was originally envisaged: for example, the concentration on using contemporary British authors has led to some of those authors visiting the country and working with teachers and students; teachers themselves have become the main creators of the resource materials through a training programme in the UK; the demand for using 'literature' has extended beyond just years 10 and 11 and, by 2005, included materials for years 8 and 9 and the development of a new kind of approach by creating classroom activities for primário through story telling. BritLit has become one of the most exciting English language teaching projects in the world, and its on-line materials have been used by hundreds of thousands of teachers across the planet. Recently BritLit has expanded to work actively with teachers in Hungary , Romania and the Czech Republic . BritLit Spain and BritLit Italy joined the project in 2006. And it all began with APPI and the British Council in Portugal .

   26 de Setembro: Dia Europeu das Línguas

O Dia Europeu das Línguas (DEL) é comemorado todos os anos, desde 2001, em 26 de Setembro, por iniciativa do Conselho da Europa. A razão de ser deste dia "especial" é celebrar a diversidade das línguas e das culturas existentes no espaço europeu.

O DEL tem como objectivos :

. chamar a atenção do público para a importância de aprender línguas;

. promover a tomada de consciência e o respeito por todas as línguas;

. estimular a aprendizagem de línguas ao longo da vida.

As escolas são um local privilegiado para celebrar o DEL; cada vez mais escolas o fazem no próprio dia ou em vários dias, consoante o calendário a as actividades planeadas. A APPI tem feito sugestões de actividades e pequenos eventos que envolvem a comunidade

local com contributos de formato e natureza diversa que tem vindo a publicar em The APPI

Newsletter, nomeadamente nos nº 1 de 2002 (pág. 10-1), nº 1 de 2004 (pág. 18-9), nº 1 de

2005 (pág. 16) e nº 1 de 2006 (pág. 26-7). Estas são algumas das propostas de actividades

para o DEL que foram publicadas na APPI Newsletter:"
