"Although most ESL students claim their need to enhance their speaking skills, encouraging them to speak has always been challenging in face-to-face classes. In fact, this has become more challenging for teachers in online classes. This session will focus on how to make speaking activities motivating by ensuring communicative and/or competitive goals which give the students the push they need to speak. It will also provide participants with tips on how to maximize speaking opportunities in online classes. Participants will get hands-on practice on managing speaking tasks with big classes. They will also get introduced to some synchronous and asynchronous speaking ideas."
